Andrew was called to the Bar in 1991 having completed a law degree at Oxford University.
Andrew defends and prosecutes in East Anglia, London and throughout the South East. He specialises in serious sexual offences and particularly those involving historical allegations and/or child complainants. Andrew has been involved in numerous trials where evidence has been given by TV-link or via intermediaries, some involving children as young as 4 years old, he is often selected for cases involving young or mentally challenged defendants or witnesses and those with other special needs or vulnerabilities. Andrew also has extensive experience in cases of murder, serious assault, non-accidental injuries to children, conspiracy to supply drugs, money-laundering, fraud and incidents of large scale public disorder. Andrew is also regularly instructed in appeals which were not pursued by the original legal team.
Recently Andrew has been instructed as a leading junior in rape cases for both the prosecution and the defence and as counsel for the defence in a series of murder and homicide cases and numerous historical child sexual abuse cases.

Day: historic sexual abuse allegations within a youth organisation spanning over 30 years in Norfolk and Essex
B: the murder in Suffolk of a terminally ill man by a 16 year old defendant
West: historic familial sexual abuse spanning nearly 50 years in Suffolk

Amy Gehring, Guildford Crown Court
Successfully defending a young female supply teacher against allegations of multiple sexual assault on several boys and one girl in a class she had taught. At the time this was a notorious case that led to questions in Parliament and contributed to a change to the PCC Code of Conduct in relation to the payment of witnesses. The verdicts were front page news on every mainstream national newspaper. Andrew appeared on Newsnight and the Radio 4 Today programme to discuss the legal issues arising from the case.
