The defendant was convicted of fraud for deceiving investors into parting with £500 000 into a non-existent student housing scheme. Chavda persuaded victims to part with their money for "buy to let" student properties. Following conviction, confiscation proceedings concluded in September 2008 with a confiscation order in excess of £2.7 million and 6 years imprisonment in default.
