Queen's Counsel 2010: Two Appointments

Chambers is delighted to announce the appointment of Alex Milne and Jane Bewsey as QCs. They will be sworn in at Westminster Hall on 22 March 2010.
Alex Milne was called to the Bar in 1981 and practises in crime, human rights and public inquiries. Between 2001 and 2005 he appeared before the Bloody Sunday Inquiry sitting in Londonderry and London on behalf of a number of soldiers implicated in the shootings, and on behalf of the late Field Marshal Lord Carver. Between 2008 and 2009 was Counsel to a Commission of Inquiry, headed by Sir Robin Auld, investigating possible corruption amongst present and former elected officials of the government of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Jane Bewsey was called in 1986 and specalises in prosecuting and defending all types of criminal cases with a particular emphasis on money laundering, VAT frauds, duty evasions, large-scale drugs offences and in the prosecution of national and international multi-handed commercial frauds. Notable cases include R v Chambers: where she was leading counsel for the prosecution of a five-handed case arising from the discovery of the largest ever amphetamine warehouse and Re Kanaris [2003] UKHL 2; [2003] 1 WLR 443; a House of Lords cases concerning the nature of preparatory hearings and custody time limits.
